Nibble My Multiverse, 2025, real-time quantum multiverses on two channels with live webcam feed (via Unity app) and stereo sound, 11min 28 evolving loop
Nibble My Multiverse is a moving, personal account of the self as quantum: fluid, overflowing, unboundaried and deeply entangled to others. The work isn’t about quantum science per se, but rather continues Heaney’s explorations of quantum as a medium and a prism through which to reimagine seemingly fixed systems and identities.
Nibble My Multiverse is anchored by an emotional spoken narrative, exploring how the self – particularly the subconscious – is ‘wild’ like nature, rather than separate to it. The poetry and visual elements evoke natural metaphors to conjure images of Heaney’s inner worlds.
On the projection screens, AI generated videos of slimy, natural, cosmic and bodily forms – oozing, unfolding, unfurling – are layered with close ups of Heaney’s mouth and glimmers of a live webcam feed of the audience, inviting them to think about the entangled, unboundaried and fluid nature of existence.
The layers pulsate in and out of being – becoming more or less visible – determined by the wave like patterns of quantum entanglement from one of IBM’s 5 qubit quantum computers, suggesting an extra-dimensional, shapeshifting & interconnected lived experience.
