untitled installation 2013

A macroscopic pyramid comprised of hundreds of smaller constituents, simultaneously emerging and decaying from the corner of the darkened gallery space. The geometry of two quantum bits or qubits includes entanglement - a 'spooky' long distance correlation that cannot be observed directly. The translucent glow of the tracing paper, strong edges coming together and the light energy finding obscure routes to exit the crystal, highlighting the negative spaces. The nothingness, as important as the substance - a clash of the visible and invisible, beautiful yet disturbing. Inherent randomness, this puzzle has been delicately placed together piece by piece -- visual problem solving, an alternative method to the usual alien language for conveying the uncertainty in quantum mechanics. Balanced and unstable, the sculpture has been frozen in time. Orange nuggets of reality, stable and hidden.
